Dr Chris Darling has spent almost all his working life in large organisations working initially in the health field and then in the OHS area. As a doctor managing the impacts of people killed and injured at work he decided about 10 years ago that “prevention was better than cure” and has since focused heavily on using leadership and cultural change to improve OHS outcomes across a number of organisations.

He has 15 years experience in the Steel industry, 8 years experience in aviation and has worked in a wide variety of industries including mining, construction and oil and gas.  For 8 years from 2001 Chris had a senior management role with BlueScope Steel finishing as the Manager - Safety, Health & Risk for the Australia and New Zealand Steel Manufacturing Businesses with sites in the Illawarra (NSW), Western Port (Victoria) and New Zealand. 

During this time Chris was a member of the Expert Panel for the Waterfall Rail Accident Inquiry that designed and oversaw the audit of the safety management systems of RailCorp and ITSRR (Rail regulator during the Inquiry).

In 2010 he established OHS Leadership which focuses on working with organisations to create a high performing, sustainable OHS culture to achieve superior outcomes.

Chris is also the co-founder (with Marc McLaren) of Safety Boot Camp, a program that works with leaders, at all levels of the organisation, to assist them in being effective safety leaders, with a strong focus on making clear their expectations of the standards and behaviours required in the organisations they have accountability for.
